My name is Susan Joyce, and this blog is to provide additional support to job seekers who use our primary Website, Job-Hunt.org.
Background about Job-Hunt.org and me:
My background is in information technology, business management, and human resources. I view computers as wonderful toys and tools, and am amazed at how much more powerful my tiny Dell X1 laptop is in comparison with than the leading edge (at the time) IBM 370/186 we used at Harvard University for our personnel records. The IBM took up a very large room. The Dell easily fits in my purse.
In 1994, along with about 60,000 to 80,000 other Digital Equipment Corporation ("DEC") employees, I was laid off. Although I was happy to leave, it was very painful to see a wonderful company implode. And, it was painful to leave behind so many colleagues and co-workers.
I wanted to start my own company, so I launched NETability, Inc. in 1995, an Internet consulting, training, and Web development company.
I consider myself a “graduate” of DEC, since working there, as well as leaving it, was certainly an educational experience.
In 1998, my company, NETability, Inc. purchased Job-Hunt.org, and I have been editor, webmaster, and publisher of Job-Hunt.org since then.
Although Job-Hunt has won many awards, it has won 3 major awards:
* Since 2002, Job-Hunt.org has been a Forbes Magazine Best of the Web site for job hunting
* In 2004, PC Magazine selected Job-Hunt.org as one of the Best of the Internet for Careers.
* In March, 2006, US News & World Reports selected Job-Hunt.org as a "Top Site for Finding Work" (March 20, 2006, issue).
Hope it helps you find a new job!
